Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE WILL THIS EXHIBITION BE SHOWN?

This exhibition has been shown in over 100 locations around the globe at universities, museums, art galleries, churches, and other public spaces.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS EXHIBITION COST TO HOST?

The current cost of the exhibition is $3500 USD including all materials, shipping, and continuous staff and logistical support. This also includes access to online content, an augmented reality component of the exhibition that can be accessed via a free cell phone app, and access to a documentary film called “Border South.”

CAN ANYONE HOST THIS EXHIBITION?

We are looking for partners of all sizes from communities around the globe. This includes museums, book stores, schools (e.g., universities and high schools), NGOs, churches, community organizations, and generally anyone with the time and energy required to host the exhibition. We are interested in working with anyone so please don’t hesitate to contact us for additional information.

WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN?

Hostile Terrain 94 began as a prototype in 2019 and continues to be exhibited globally.

WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER HOSTED AN EXHIBITION BEFORE?

Our team of people will work closely with you (our hosting partners) to provide support for how to organize people in your community to get involved, how to install the exhibition in your specific location (i.e, how to work with your available space), and how to supplement the exhibition with locally relevant programming.

How long does it take?

Because of the logistics required to organize the exhibition, we recommend at least 6-9 months lead time before exhibition opening. Please contact our team if you are interested in hosting.

WHAT ABOUT OTHER EVENTS?

We anticipate that each hosting location will coordinate some additional programming about immigration and migration that will happen alongside the exhibition. This includes things like film screenings, workshops, lectures, musical events, etc. We work with our hosting partners to help develop locally relevant programming for their specific community needs. In addition, the exhibition package comes with access to the documentary “Border South” that examines the Central American migrant trail across Mexico and what happens to migrants in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona.

Told against the backdrop of the Kafkaesque North-American migrant trail, Border South weaves together migrant stories of resilience from different vantage points. Website: https://bordersouthfilm.com/
