War Pigs Press Kit
Origin story
War Pigs are Hollywood’s tiniest and mightiest kid political punk band. The band started during the 2020 COVID lockdown, when Iggy (guitar and vocals) was 7 and Lolo (drums and keyboards) was 4. Their dad (Jason) was looking for a way to entertain the kids and teach them about the DIY spirit of punk rock.
War Pigs started by learning covers by Chuck Berry, The Clash, and Neil Young. They soon moved to writing original songs about reading banned books, fighting fascism, and advocating for human rights. The band began playing live shows in 2023 and since then have played across southern California, Arizona, and the east coast. The band completed a 7 day east coast tour in 2024.
War Pigs are committed to raising awareness about climate change, human rights, and the troubled state of our world while simultaneously fighting for positive social change. We take musical inspiration from bands like The Clash, Bad Brains, IDLES, Stiff Little Finger, Dead Moon, and Bad Religion.
Breakfast Music Album
In 2026, War Pigs released their debut album Breakfast Music on UMP Records, a non-profit record label run by the Undocumented Migration Project. Breakfast Music features thirteen tracks plus three extra demos (on vinyl release) recorded by the band in 2025 at We Have That At Home Studios and produced and engineered by Dad.
All proceeds earned by the band go directly to support ¡Listen Up!, a free music program for migrant, immigrant, and indigenous kids around the globe.
Breakfast Music has recently been featured on KEXP’s In Our Headphones podcast.
LINEUP
War Pigs consists of Iggy De León (8th Grade) on guitar and vox, Lolo De León (4th Grade) on drums and keyboards, and Jason De León (Dad) on bass.
BOOKING and 2027 tour
War Pigs are actively playing live shows across Southern California and beyond. We are planning a full west coast tour for June 2027. Please contact Jason De León for booking info. We prefer all ages shows and will play your backyard party for pizza and gas money.
